A billion-year lineage of wandering stardust.

Stardust in our veins.

If we got that concept

of our common bonds

ionic, earthly, universal,

Our Sun one in 400 billion,

if we ever looked up,

would we learn to look around

bending loneliness to curiosity?

The House on the Sea

Some say the Stars laughed
the day she was born.
Creature of pure Fire
called to love the Sea.
The Girl watched Sailors
coming and going
burning to follow
til she Stole Aboard.
“Go play, Stowaway.
You’ll have work enough
tomorrow.” – No Task
could bring her Sorrow.
Low Ceilings – bumped heads –
took her share of lumps.
Swabbed Decks – trimmed the Sails –
fair Price for free Air.
Hungry for novel
Experiences –
She wandered: sailed far
and sailed wide. Drew too
many Pirates to
her side. Lost it All –
made it back – learned
to Always conceal her
Lack. Star-born captain
of a Ship her Own –
Home Enough to be
alone. She made her
name, and jealous Sea
brought Wind and Rain to
collect its Fee. Wrent
the Wood – Cracked its Spine –

the ship goes down.
she will not drown.
she lost this fight.
he keeps the light.
